About
Keira Smith-Tague is a master’s student in the Hispanic studies program in the French, Hispanic and Italian Studies Department at UBC. She completed her undergraduate degree at UBC, with a double major in Spanish and Sociology. Keira’s primary focus is the issue of violence against women and the strategies that women enact to resist that violence. Her research interests lie in the literary genre of testimonio, women’s social movements, feminist theory, and the connections between women’s resistance to violence using literature in Latin America and Canada. Outside of academia, Keira works with women who have experienced domestic and sexualized violence as the coordinator of a violence prevention program in a local community health centre. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, running and cooking.
