Congratulations to Fiona Chen (Les bienfaits d’une “éco”le) and Caitlyn Li (Ma contribution pour le bien-être des étudiants) for winning the National Essay Contest and receiving $1,000 towards further language studies at UBC.
This is the first year UBC’s Department of French, Hispanic & Italian Studies (FHIS) has participated in the National Essay Contest. The contest gives high school students a chance to receive a scholarship to a post-secondary institution of their choice, allowing them to continue French studies beyond high school. The initiative is hosted by French for the Future, which aims to promote francophone culture, French heritage, and official bilingualism among young people in Canada.
