On April 8th, 2022, the Cultural Club of UBC’s Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies (FHIS) hosted an Afro-Latin dance and cultural education class led by FHIS alumnus Julio Montero. Attendees learned the basic dance moves of salsa, bachata, reggaetón and merengue, and about the cultures from which these dances originated.

Undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members and staff came with an open mind, ready to bust a move.
Julio’s energy and enthusiasm was undeniably contagious.
