A Língua Portuguesa no Oeste Canadiano (Portuguese Language in Western Canada)

World Portuguese Language Day honours the rich linguistic and cultural legacy shared by Portuguese-speaking nations, uniting diverse countries and peoples worldwide—from Portugal to Brazil, East Timor to Mozambique.

Whether you speak Portuguese fluently, are eager to learn, or love exploring diverse cultures, you are invited to join the worldwide celebration of Portuguese language and Lusophone cultures—right here, in Western Canada!

What to expect

Enjoy typical food, snacks, and refreshments from Portugal and Brazil, while listening to remarks from:

Travel to UBC

There are three main Parkades available to attendees: the North Parkade, the Fraser River Parkade and the West Parkade. Locations are identified on the UBC Parking Map. Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first served basis, with regular rates of $2.00/30 min or $20.00/day and are open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Note that both regular and accessible parking at UBC can be challenging at times, so please allow extra time to find a stall and get to your destination.

If you wish to commute to/from UBC and Downtown or the nearby neighbourhood of Kitsilano, take one of the following buses to/from the UBC Bus Exchange:
