Hosted by the Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies
Join us for a free Afro-Latin dance lesson with Cuban instructor Julio Montero, a former student of French and Spanish Studies at UBC! This intercultural education and wellness event is the perfect way to take a break from exam prep and unwind through Afro-Latin rhythms and movement.
Julio will:
- Give a presentation on the background and cultural relevance of Afro-Latin dancing (such as salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaet贸n)
- Provide an Afro-Latin dance demonstration (performance/video)
- Teach you some basic Afro-Latin dance moves (done individually without a partner)
- Play some Afro-Latin music for you practice, dance and move to!
No previous dance experience required.
Masks will be required. Remember to bring your water bottle, as you might just break a sweat! 馃槈
