Discover how teaching languages can lead to unconscious biases related to racism and the representation of gender identities
This Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Teaching Practices Workshop is open to all members of the UBC community.
Attend a movie screening on awareness workshops held at Vancouver French Secondary High School École secondaire Jules Verne (Conseil Scolaire Francophone de Vancouver) in November 2024, followed by a Q&A session, before experiencing your own awareness workshop.
The event will be presented in English or French (depending on the audience’s preference). Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The event will be facilitated by Caroline Lebrec, FHIS Pedagogy Clinic Coordinator and co-recipient of the Global Fund from UBC Centre for Community Engaged Learning with co-recipients FHIS student partners Shreya Diwan and Savindya Mudadeniya, in collaboration with community-partner Ingrid Broussillon from Griottes Polyglottes.
About Ingrid Broussillon: Ingrid Broussillon is the founder and owner of Griottes Polyglottes. Her actions and engagements towards EDI practices in local school and companies received the 2020 Premier’s People Choice for the BC Small Business Awards, the 2023 Prix de la Palme Bleue for the Micro Entreprise from the Francophone Chamber of Commerce of Vancouver and the 2024 Feminin Leadership Award from France Circle collective and the Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique.
