The Department of French, Hispanic & Italian Studies (FHIS) invites graduating Graduate Students to a special celebration in your honour!
Join us as we recognize the hard work, scholarship, and contributions of our MA and PhD graduates. You are welcome to bring friends and family to celebrate this important milestone alongside faculty, fellow graduate students, and the broader FHIS community.
Light refreshments will be served. This reception will take place following the UBC Convocation Ceremony.
Program:
- Opening remarks
- Graduate student theses/dissertations
- Graduate student reflections
- Congratulatory toast and gifts
- Light refreshments
Who is invited:
- Graduate students who are graduating in Fall 2025, who have pursued an MA or PhD in any of the FHIS programs
- Friends and family members of the graduating students
- FHIS faculty members
- FHIS master’s and doctoral students (including those who are not graduating yet)

- Buchanan Tower, Room 726 (1873 East Mall, Vancouver, BC)
Call for student reflections:
- Graduate students are welcome to share a few words during the student reflections. If you wish to do so, please let us know by writing to us at fhis.grad@ubc.ca by Wednesday, November 19.
