Celebration of Annie Ernaux’s 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature

DATE
Wednesday January 18, 2023
TIME
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2022 was awarded to French author Annie Ernaux “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory”. In her feminist writing, Ernaux consistently, and from different angles, examines a life marked by strong disparities regarding gender, language and class.

Join us for a celebration of this prized author, which will consist of a:

  • Round table discussion on the work of Annie Ernaux with French literature experts Dr. Farid Laroussi and Dr. Antje Ziethen, moderated by Dr. Patrick Moran
  • Reading of excerpts from her books, in English and French, by graduate students Nick Bartlett and Mathilda Poulenay

Light refreshments will be provided.

The event will be held in English, so anyone with an interest in literature, the Nobel Prize and French culture is welcome to attend.
