About

Starting with 2017/2018 Winter Term II Elena Zampieri is the Visiting Lecturer of Italian appointed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After graduating in Foreign Languages and Literatures in Venice, Elena began her job as a State  English  Language teacher at Primary, Middle and Secondary school level. She has  been an English Language, Literature and Art teacher at Secondary level (liceo artistico, linguistico and scientifico) in Italy for the last 20 years.

Besides being a state school  teacher, she has also worked as a language teacher and consultant in fields such as EYL, ESP, Comenius and Erasmus (EEC) Projects as well as  Primary and Secondary school teacher training both for Public and Private institutions based in the Venetian area of Italy.

Over the years she has joined several in-service training courses  In Italy, UK and Finland in three main areas of interest:

  • Second-language acquisition theory and application
  • Use of digital tools and advanced technologies in ELT
  • European Projects planning and managing.

Awards

2020 Leaders in Open Learning/Arts (OER Champions)

Recepient of 2020 award as a Leader in Open Learning — a member of the UBC community who, in response to moving courses online, worked to support affordable and inclusive access to learning materials through the use of Open Educational Resources (OER).

The award was recognized by all students at the Alma Mater Society of UBC Vancouver, the Provost’s Office, and the UBC Library, and rewards faculty who worked towards achieving equitable access to knowledge, removing systemic barriers facing students based on one’s gender, race, and/or socioeconomic status.
