UBC’s Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) Fund supports faculty members who are working in close collaboration with community partners across British Columbia on research, teaching, and initiatives that respond to locally identified priorities.
In 2026, one of the funded projects includes a Francophone Arts & Education Collaboration led by Dr. Antje Ziethen, Associate Professor of French and Director of the Centre de la Francophonie de UBC, and Tine Dupré, Administrative Director of Théâtre la Seizième.
These funds will be used to bring together Francophone artists and teacher-education students to create a Theatre for Young Audiences production. This will involve the development of educational resources and a province-wide tour, expanding access to Francophone arts and educational programming.
This initiative reflects the commitment of UBC’s Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies (FHIS) to community-engaged scholarship that connects language, culture, and education with meaningful impact across BC.
